Homework:
- continue reading your independent novel -- please bring to every class
- review notes on point of view (handout and notes given in class)
- due Jan 25/26 -- "Always a Motive " POV assignment -- Rewrite parts of the story from different POVs (1 paragraph for each):
- Joe
- Inspector
- Father
- Person watching the news (could be you)
- 2 must be written from 1st person POV
- the other 2 must be written from limited omniscient POV
- focus on the character's THOUGHTS AND FEELINGS
- get into the character's head; BECOME THE CHARACTER
- BE CREATIVE! Don't be afraid to go beyond the story, to create a back story.
- The 4 paragraphs should be from 4 different parts of the story; they don't need to connect to each other and they don't need to be in sequence.
- You will have class time to work on this next class. Due date: the class after.
- Your 4 paragraphs will be assessed on your ability to get into character, the depth of thoughts and feelings, and creativity.
